Job Title:  Music Teacher

 

We are looking for a passionate Music Teacher to join our team! The music teacher is responsible for instructing students in various aspects of music including theory, performance, composition, and history.  They create lesson plans, teach students how to play instruments, develop voice, read music, and develop their musical talents.  The Music Teacher will work with students in grades K-8.  The music teacher will also be responsible for organizing and directing music performances, competitions and events.  

 

What you bring to the table

• Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Music Education
• PA Instructional Certification specific to Music PK-12 or eligibility for instructional certification in Pennsylvania
• Strong instrumental skills, including piano accompaniment
• Content knowledge in research and development of library skills, in addition to classroom management, organization, planning, instructional delivery, and technical skills
• A deep knowledge of music theory
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to motivate and build relationships with parents, students and staff to promote student achievement and strengthen community partnerships
• Commitment to diversity and inclusion
• Bilingual in Spanish, preferred

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 10-months, exempt
• This position is for in-person work at our location
• 180 instructional days, 197 work days (new staff members work additional days for induction/orientation)
• In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable
• To be eligible to work for Pan American Academy Charter School, you must complete and submit background clearances and paperwork prior to your start date. We are able to accept clearances if they are less than one year old from the date a new employee presents them to Human Resources.
