Job Title: English Language Learner Teacher (ELL)
We are looking for a passionate ELL Teacher to join our team! The ELL Teacher provides direct instruction and learning support to English Learners (ELs) in the school environment in order to help them become productive citizens by increasing English proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The ELL teacher plans, prepares and delivers English language development (ELD) instruction to English Learners (ELs). The ELL teacher collaborates with content area teachers on a consistent basis and creating lesson plans that are tailored to students unique needs and abilities.
What you will be doing
- Designing and delivering English language lessons that focus on reading, writing, speaking and listening
- Assessing students' language proficiency and creating individualized learning plans based on their needs
- Providing instruction using a variety of teaching techniques and strategies, such as visual aids, hands-on activities, and cooperative learning
- Assessing student progress, monitoring student achievement and adjusting instruction as necessary to ensure that students are making progress towards their language development and goals
- Provide feedback to students and their parents on their language development and progress
- Working collaboratively with other teachers, school administrators and parents to ensure that the program is effective, meets the needs of all students and provides opportunities for students to develop cultural competence and appreciation for different cultures
- Completing training for and administering specialized ESL assessments
- Maintaining and monitoring current and former EL student files
- Attending IEP and other related meetings necessary for student assessment and/or compliance with federal and/or state law
- Staying current with best practices and trends in ESL education to continually improve teaching methods
What you bring to the table
- Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Education and/or content area
- PA Instructional Certification as a Program Specialist ESL PK-12 or eligibility for instructional certification in Pennsylvania
- Content knowledge and skills to successfully teach assigned content areas and grade levels, in addition to classroom management, organization, planning, instructional delivery, and technical skills
- Ability to motivate and build relationships with parents, students and staff to promote student achievement and strengthen community partnerships.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 10-months, exempt
- This position is for in-person work at our location
- 179 instructional days, 194 work days (new staff members work additional days for induction/orientation)
- In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable
- To be eligible to work for Pan American Academy Charter School, you must complete and submit background clearances and paperwork prior to your start date. We are able to accept clearances if they are less than one year old from the date a new employee presents them to Human Resources.
